Currently: March 2017

Happy Thursday friends! I hope your week has been going well so far and you are looking forward to some fun plans this weekend! Today I am doing another fun round of "currently".  I came across this idea on Becca Door's Blog - you should check her out!

ANTICIPATING: Our trip to Florida at the end of the month! We are heading down there for his cousin's wedding and I am looking forward to some warmer weather than what we've had here lately.

CLEANING: Nothing too specific lately.  I really need to go through my craft room and start kicking butt on that space, but that is more purging than it is cleaning.  I also need to take my sewing machine in for a deep clean and fix.

DRINKING: I have really been digging the Cascara Latte from Starbucks and I think I have a few per week.  I appreciate that they are bitter with just a touch of sweetness to them.  It's the perfect drink on a cold morning.

FEELING: Excited.  Justin and I have been getting quotes for landscaping and a patio in the back.  I am hoping to get at least 2 more quotes before we settle with anyone.  But I am really excited with what we have seen so far.

WATCHING:  Honestly, I haven't been watching too much TV lately except for a few shows {This is Us, My Big Fat Fabulous Life & ANTM}.  Lately it's just been reading books which is always fun.

PLAYING: So we played Secret Hitler a few weekends ago with Kevin and Nick and this game is super fun! It's a game of wit and deceit.  Thankfully I managed to identify and kill Hitler twice so I felt pretty good.  If you're looking for a fun game that is a bit different, I highly recommend Secret Hitler.

READING: I just finished We Were Liars yesterday.  Oh my goodness that ending was NOT at all what I was expecting it to be! I really enjoyed the book and I actually might read it again to see if they give clues about the ending that I maybe missed.  I've also been listening to the Ranger's Apprentice Series with Justin.  If you like battle/fantasy reads, then I would recommend the Ranger's Apprentice series for sure.  Today I am going to start reading Illuminae.  This book came highly recommended by my friends at The Owlcrate Society so I am super excited to read this book!

RECOVERING: I have been fighting a cold/headache/allergies since early February.  With Michigan's weather floating between 30 degrees and 70 degrees in a week's time, my body is really not sure what to do.

TRYING: To spend more time doing what Justin likes to do.  We've both been so busy lately that it seemed only fair to spend time doing some of the things he loves doing.

WEARING: Whatever I could find.  We didn't have power this morning, so I was limited in what I could see.  Thankfully, I managed to grab an outfit I like and make myself look somewhat put together this morning.

Question of the Day: What do you have going on "currently"?
I'd love to hear from you!

March: Month @ a Glance

Happy March Friends!

Before I dig into my post for today, I am going to address the elephant in the room.  I literally went an entire month without a single post.  If you follow me on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter you may have seen me post a few things here and there, but I have not been on the blog.  Honestly, I wish I had a good excuse for being away for a month, but I really don't.  I started February off very sick and have been sick on and off all of the month and my personal schedule went haywire.

So last night I sat down and planned out posts for the month of March {and some of April} and have made a plan for myself to not be so absent over the next few months.  I've really missed you all and I am excited to start sharing with you all again.

Back to the previously scheduled post....
Okay! So March is going to be a fun month for Justin and I and with Spring right around the corner, I am excited to be able to watch the flowers bloom and start enjoying some of the nicer weather {as long as Mother Nature is not cruel to us this year}.

On the agenda this month:

  1. Visiting a Vintage Market with a friend
  2. Blogger Get Together
  3. Get together with Some of My Married Girlfriends
  4. Brunch with a Best Friend
  5. Get together with My Cousins
  6. Going to see Rent with My Friend (be looking for another post on that!)
  7. Brunch at The Morrie with the Blog Group
  8. March Lazy Sunday!
  9. Mani/Pedis with Some Friends
  10. Trip to Florida for Justin's Cousin's Wedding

Goals for March 2017!

1. Read Two Books! The plan is to read my Owl Crate book for the month and then another book off my to be read book list.  If you want to join me in my quest to read 24 books this year, follow me on Goodreads.  And if you'd like to join the OwlCrate Book Group on Goodreads, check it out here! This month I will be finishing My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand and Caraval by Stephanie Garber (my February Owlcrate read).  And if I have time, I might read another book - but we will see!

2. Finish setting up my office/crafting space!  Last month Justin and I went to Ikea to get some supplies for my desk and the next step will be for me to set up the space.  I'm hoping to do an office reveal as soon as I get my office set up to my liking.

Well that is all for the month of March!

Question of the Day: What fun things do you have planned for this March?

I'd love to hear from you!

Currently: January 2017

Happy Thursday friends! I hope your week has been going well so far and you are looking forward to some fun plans this weekend! Today I am doing another fun round of "currently".  I came across this idea on Becca Door's Blog - you should check her out!

ANTICIPATING: Setting up my craft room/office space! I've been spending so much time looking around Pinterest for how I want to set up my room and I think I may have overwhelmed myself a little bit.  But I think this is where I landed for my room (at least from a desk perspective) - what do you think?

CLEANING: Right now I am going through anything and everything and trying to purge as much as possible.  The goal is to get rid of everything we do not need anymore and donate or sell it to someone then organizing what is left behind.

DRINKING: Lots of coffee and water.  For some reason I have been having a hard time jumping back into the routine of work after having a few weeks off at the end of last year.  So coffee has been my lifeline.  Not to mention I was trying to win Starbucks for Life.

FEELING: Honestly, a little sad.  For some reason January gives me a hard time and I start missing my grandmother in January.  She was such a pillar in my family and my life and I start to miss her once the Christmas season ends.

WATCHING: Gilmore Girls! I watched Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life in November and love it. But I was not able to finish the series before it released so I have been working to finish the series so I can feel a little more caught up.

PLAYING: So Justin's mom grabbed a game in the clearance section at Target for me and we've been obsessed with it lately! If you love games that are challenging and more a "who done it" type game.  The game is called 221 B Baker Street and it is so much fun! We also picked up Pandemic on Monday while we were shopping around Target! I am so excited to play it next week when our friends come over for dinner! I have heard nothing but good things about it so far.

READING: I am still reading What Alice Forget.  I finally decided to start it over this month since it had been so long since I started the book and my goal is to finish it by the end of the month.  Plus I have another book coming in my Owlcrate this month that I want to read.

RECOVERING: My left arm is a little sore from Justin's birthday party on Sunday.  We went "bomb bowling" (which is where you use a football instead of a bowling ball) and it was so much fun.  But apparently, my throwing muscles are not in the best shape and they're sore.

TRYING: Took cook more at home.  We are trying to be more diligent with our health and our money, so what better way to improve our health and save some money than cooking at home? If you have any good recipes, please share them!

WEARING: For Christmas my mom bought me the cutest Poncho that I have been wearing at least one to two times a week either for work our just for lounging around.  I seriously feel like I am wearing a stylish blanket every time I leave the house.  I can't find the link to the exact one I have, but here is a cute one that is super similar!

Workin' It Wednesday: New Year's Goals

Happy Wednesday Friends! I hope all is well and you are having a great day so far! Instead of doing a Stranded With... post every month this year, Shay and Erika have switched things up and have come up with "Workin' It Wednesdays".  I am excited about this one because some of the topics look very interesting! Make sure to check out the link up and join in on the fun either in the comment section of my blog or my Facebook Page.  I always love hearing from you all!

For the first topic of the year, we are focusing on....

New Year's Goals!

I know I already covered a little bit of my goals for the year in my Month @ a Glance post, but I thought it would be more fun to go more into depth on this post (plus I had planned to share my goals at some point, so why not now?)

So, without further adieu, here are my goals for 2017!

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Send one encouraging letter a month to someone.
For this year, I want to send one encouraging letter to a person per month.  I got these super cute cards from Thirty-One and they were so inspiring that I could not keep them for myself.  I know for me, when I get a letter in the mail it brings a big smile to myself, so I thought it would be fun to send letters to people to hopefully bring a smile to their face as well.

2. Lose 30 Pounds
I know, I know a weight loss goal? How cliche! But honestly, I finally feel like I am in a good enough place to make the conscious effort to lose weight this year.

So here's my plan:
January: Focus on eating healthier by packing lunches for work and cooking at home meals at least 4 days a week.  Not only will this help with both of our weight, it will also save us some money.

February: Start incorporating exercise 1-2 times a week.  I am planning to do Zumba and Cycle to start since they both are great exercise classes and will not be too intense.

After February, I do not have a plan.  But I know in years past, trying to do both diet and exercise at the same time caused me to get too overwhelmed, so this year I am going to just tackle one at a time.

3. Read 2 books a month
So last year I set up my goal to read 12 books and met it at exactly 12.  This year I want to kick it up a bit and try to read two books a month.  My goal is to read my Owlcrate Book as well as a book off of my to be read book list.  If you have a book you think would be a good addition to my list, please let me know! I am always looking for good book recommendations.

4. Share Thirty-One
So last year I started selling Thirty-One and I am so glad I started selling it.  I have found such an amazing community in through Thirty-One that I want to continue sharing it with anyone and everyone.  Not only are their products so cute, they are so functional! Check out a little more about one of our products and how many uses it has! If you want to learn more about Thirty-One, go here.

  *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

So those are my goals for 2017! I know it seems like a lot, but I am confident I can be successful this year and would love to hear more about your goals and how you plan to achieve them!

January: Month @ a Glance

Happy New Year Friends!

I hope your new year has gotten off to an exciting start (or a relaxing start) and you are looking forward to one more day of vacation before getting back to the normal routine of things.  Yesterday we spent the day playing a "new" board game that Justin's mom got me with Nick and Kevin: 221 B. Baker Street.  The game originally came out in 1977, but we had a blast playing five rounds and solving all of the clues for the game.  It's for 14+, but we found that we wnated

January is going to be a fun and exciting month for us! I am hoping to start the year off with some home organization and de-cluttering over the next 30 days.  If I get the chance, I will be sure to share my organizing tips with you all.

On the agenda this month:

  1. Meeting with our financial adviser
  2. Justin's 30th Birthday!
  3. Sur la Table cooking class with mom
  4. Blogger Post-Holiday Event
  5. Lazy Sunday with the Girls
  6. Dermatologist Appointment
  7. Blogger event with EatPakd
  8. Drag Queen Bingo for Christina's birthday
  9. Nestie Post Holiday Event

Goals for January 2017!

Just like last year, I will have goals for every month.  However, this year I actually am going to stick to them {I swear, I swear}.

1. Read Two Books! So last year, my goal was to read 12 books and I managed to hit that goal! For 2017, I would like to read 24 books.  The plan is to read my Owl Crate book for the month and then another book off my to be read book list.  If you want to join me in my quest to read 24 books this year, follow me on Goodreads.  And if you'd like to join the OwlCrate Book Group on Goodreads, check it out here! This month I will be finishing The Magnolia Story by Chip and Joanna Gaines and I will be reading Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst

2. Go through my clothes/shoes and donate.  One of the goals I have for 2017 is to go through all of the stuff we have and get rid of anything that we do not need/want anymore.  I have been noticing that we've been holding on to a lot of things that we just do not need anymore.  In January I would like to go start by going through all of my clothes/shoes and start purging.

Well that is all for the month of January!

Question of the Day: What fun things do you have planned for this January?

I'd love to hear from you!

Happy Thursday Friends! I hope your week is going well and you are looking forward to this long weekend! We are planning to spend the weekend around the house and getting more boxes unpacked.  We are finally moved out of the apartment, so this weekend will be spent relaxing and getting more boxes emptied.  If possible, my goal is to get all of the boxes empty by the 4th, but I think that may be a little aggressive.  We will see though!

Today I wanted to share with you a little bit a about what I got in my June Owlcrate! I have already started wearing some the bracelet because I love it so much!

So here is a little video of what I got in the box!

Owlcrate April 2016: Dystopia

Happy Thursday Friends! I hope your week is going well and you are looking forward to this weekend and celebrating mom!

If you remember from my Last Five Things I Bought Post, I talked about how excited I was to get my Owl Crate.  If you have not heard about Owl Crate, they are a monthly subscription service that sends you books and book-related items like note pads and jewelry.  I had been thinking about signing up for Owl Crate for a looooonnnngggg time and when they announced the April theme to be Dystopia, I knew that I had to finally sign up to get the box.

Of course, when I signed up I had to wait three weeks before the box came but I was so excited to get home from work and open up the box.  I even went so far as to make a blackboard sign for the box and shared it on Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter.

So here is a little video of what I got in the box!

In the box:
