Easter Celebrations

With the weather being as wonderful as it has been, it was so exciting to get dressed up for Easter this year.  Traditionally, my family all goes to church together and then we all get together for a big lunch, but this year Justin and I decided to try and do things a bit differently.

We were invited by my friend Sarah and her family to attend the Saturday Easter service at their church and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to go since we've been in the market for a new church for a little over a year now.  The struggle has been that I need praise and worship and Justin needs a good pastor and so far every church we've seen has had one or the other.  We both really enjoyed the church and look forward to trying it on a non-holiday week this coming weekend.

After church, Justin and I made our way to Mitchell's Fish Market with my parents.  My mom and I have been talking about trying this restaurant for some time, so I was excited to try a new place and new food.

For dinner, I had the lobster bisque, steak, potatoes and asparagus and it was absolutely delicious! I wish I had taken a picture of the food, but by the time I realized it, my plate was empty.  I did manage to grab a picture of Justin and myself before we left the restaurant and walked around the outdoor mall.

After walking around the mall, we decided to go grab some ice cream for dessert.  In Michigan, if it is anything above 40 degrees outside, ice cream is a perfect dessert choice.

On Easter Sunday, Justin and I spent the morning relaxing and I also worked on a few dishes to pass at his family gathering.  Our afternoon started by going to my grandma's house where my grandma, aunts and uncles and a bunch of my cousins all gathered around to celebrate.  Honestly, in my mom's family, we are constantly looking for a good reason to get together and the holiday's are always our favorite.

After spending some time with my family, we made our way up to Justin's sister's house to spend some time with his family.  As always, it was wonderful to spend some time with our niece and nephew.  I just love those two so much!

Do you watch Game of Thrones? We DO!

Our Sunday evening consisted of having a few friends over to watch the Season 3 premier of Game of Thrones and it was excellent!

Question of the Day:
Do you watch Game of Thrones?
What's your favorite t.v. show?

April Fool's Run

Good morning everyone! I am so sorry that it has been a week again.  Where is the time getting to?

This past week has seen some pretty fun and exciting things! First off, we have seen the sun! It finally has made an appearance and it seems that it is here to stay.  BUT Michigan is known to have crazy weather, so I wouldn't be too surprised if it switches in an instant.  I did get to enjoy driving around with my windows down though!

On Saturday, Janna and I had planned on running a 10k together, but due to my recent injuries, I have not been cleared to do any exercising outside of walking.  So I was proactive and contacted the race people to see if I could switch to a 5k walk and I was able to! So while Janna ran her 10k, I walked my 5k.

My goal was to finish a 5k in just over a 15 minute mile (or 4.0 mph) and to be finished before Janna finished her 10k and I did! And actually, I walked 3.62 miles in the time she ran her 5k.  BUT, I am so excited for Janna! She was able to run the entire race and finished in just over a nine minute mile.  Isn't that so awesome?!

About the 3.62 miles, there was a point in the race where they had us loop around the neighborhood and according to the nice young men directing us we were supposed to do that loop twice, but in all reality we weren't.  Oopsy!

I think the most exciting part of the race was the fact that I placed second for my age bracket {20-29} and I got a plaque!

It is not a major accomplishment, but it is my first ever award for competing in a race.  I cannot wait to hang it up at home.  I'm thinking it will go by my desk.

Question of the Day:
What is your favorite award you've ever won?

Good News Everyone!

Happy Tuesday! It is a chilly day here in Michigan, but it looks like Ms. Sunshine is going to make a brief appearance and I know all Michiganders are excited about that.

I totally forgot to post about my Uncle's 60th Birthday Party on Sunday when I was doing some updating! For his birthday, my cousin planned a surprise party where all of his family and friends were invited to come and celebrate his 60th birthday with him, or his 37th birthday for the 23rd time.  It was such a nice party and the cake was super cool!

It's hard to tell by the picture, but the flowers say, "Still Mowing After 60 Years".

One of my other favorite parts of the party was the photo booth my cousin had rented.  I loved the idea because it was an open background booth where you were not limited to a small box.  Us girls got some rather hilarious photos.

I love my cousins.  We always have a great time together.

After the party Justin and I made our way home to relax for the evening since I still was not feeling all that great.  I did, however, manage a few pictures of me and the kitties.

I think Frye was a bit skeptical at first, but he came around when the camera started making sounds.  Such a goofball.  Of course, where one cat has no interest, the other one has too much.  Leilah kept trying to paw at the screen as I adjusted the camera.  So silly these two.

Doctor Office Update

I received a call from the doctors office and it appears that everything came back normal from my blood work.  My liver and kidneys are normal, my lipids are normal, and I did not show any inflammation markers. So what is next? Well, I will be receiving an order in the mail for a bone scan that I will need to schedule sometime this week or next week.  Not sure what a bone scan is? Do not worry! I did not either.

This is how it works: I will be injected with a radioactive tracer (no it's not harmful).  This tracer will either be  absorbed into the bone or continue to move through the blood stream.  If the tracer collects in any areas they will glow bright on the screen indicating there is an issue there.  These issues could include: bone cancer (unlikely in my case), damage to the bone through injury or damage to the bone through infection.

While I wait for the bone scan order to come in, I will continue taking the medicine three times daily and taking it easy.  It is driving me insane, but I need to continue to do what the doctor orders.  Hopefully we will know more next week!

How I'm feeling

If I am being honest, I am a bit scared.  We still do not know what is causing the pain (hence all the tests), but at the same time it could be something pretty serious.  I don't think it is, but the possibility is there.  Also, I REALLY do not do well with needles so being injected with tracers will not be fun.

Question of the Day:
What is the weirdest medical procedure you've had done?
