Stitch Fix Review #3

Today I wanted to share with you a little bit about Stitchfix! If you have not heard about them before, it's a personal style service for men and women that evolves with your tastes, needs and lifestyle.  You can choose to get boxes every month, every other month or whenever you want them to come. They send you a box of clothing or accessories for you to try on, then you can either buy the items or send them back.  The ones you keep, you pay for and the ones you don't keep send back you don't.

This is my third box with StitchFix and I have to say I was pretty disappointed with what they sent over this time.  They sent over a few tops, a dress and capris and the only thing that I could even try on was the capris - everything else was too tight in the arms or waist.  I am a bit disappointed with the box because I always look forward to getting new items to try on and not being able to try them on was disappointing.  For this box, I asked them to send something I could wear to celebrate my birthday so they sent a mix of casual/nice items that could be dressed up or down.  Overall, I think they nailed my style on the head, but then the items did not fit so I was pretty upset.

Outfit #1: Jean Capris and a Top

I was so excited when I saw this outfit! I loved the color combo with the bright colors and the light washed capris! My stylist recommended combining these with a heel and nice earrings for an evening out or with a nice sandal for a more relaxed fit.  My sandals are all boxed away (not for much longer though) so I could not grab a picture of them together.

Individual Item Breakdown

Daniel Rainn Fetra Scoop Neck Blouse

Gosh I loved this shirt when I pulled it out of the box, but I am sad to say that the arms were too tight and I could not get it over my head.  I am a bug sucker for stripes, so I was super excited to try this one, but I had to send it back because the arm holes were too small.
 Price: $58.00          Status: Sent Back

Liverpool Robby 4-Way Stretch Capri Skinny Jeans

I loved these the moment I saw them! The fit is perfect and I love the wash! Perfect for Summer and I can leave them rolled or unrolled for a different styling.  I know they are capris, but when your legs are short like mine, they're  more like crop pants.
 Price: $78.00          Status: Keep

Just USA Anjuli Dark Wash Denim Jacket

I love the wash on this jacket, but like the other shirt, my the arms were too tight.  And jean jackets are really not my style anyway.  So this one went back to StitchFix.
Price: $58.00          Status: Sent Back

Q&A Darby Shirt Dress

I am so sad this did not fit me because I loved the color/pattern so much.  But unfortunately this did not fit me in the hip area.  If it had been a shirt, I likely would have kept this one! The material is so nice and soft which is my favorite material for dresses.
Price: $78.00          Status: Sent back

Fun2Fun Ottoline One Pocket Tunic

This tunic is SUPER CUTE, but I also had issues with it being too small.  I loved the lightweight material and the pockets on the front.  Such a fun little detail on the item
Price: $48.00          Status: Sent back

So that was my third box and the first one I really did not like multiple items in the box.  I gave them some feedback from the box and hopefully next time I won't have issues with the shirts being too tight in my next box in a few months!

Thinking about getting a box of your own? Check out how you can get started here at the StitchFix website.  If you do decide to get a box, let me know! I'd love to see what your stylist sends you.

Question of the Day: If you could gt a box, what would you hope came in your box?
I'd love to hear from you!

#HPReadathon2017 Reading Challenge || Week 1

Happy Tuesday everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful day so far and are enjoying your second day of this work week.

Today I wanted to share with you a little bit about a read-a-thon I am participating in right now! After doing the #BoutofBooks Read-a-Thon last week, I knew I wanted to try another read-a-thon and seeing as I have never read the Harry Potter books (gasp! I know), this seemed like a great way to fix that!

About #HPReadathon2017 | May 15 - August 6

The #HPReadathon2017 is a chance for Potterheads around the world to read the Harry Potter series again interactively. It is a three-month long event that aims to get Potterheads involved in reading, watching the films and participating in a range of different activities.  These activities include things like a Photo Challenge, Quizzes, and weekly reading challenges.  The check out more about the #HPReadathon2017, check out their Tumblr Site here: https://hpreadathon.tumblr.com/details

My Goals for this Challenge

Since this is a Harry Potter specific challenge, my goal is to keep up with the schedule and make sure to watch the movies as I go along.  I have not seen all of the movies, so I am excited to see how they all go.

I also am planning to participate in the Photo Challenges, as well as engage on Twitter! If you want to follow, check out my twitter: @RunwithJackabee or follow along to the hashtag #HPReadathon2017 to see all of the participants!

If you have not had a chance, make sure to check out my Bookstagram: @RunwithJackabee_Reads

Book(s) I've Completed: n/a
Challenge I've Participated In: No challenges today.  I could not find my copy of the book at home - looks like we will need to buy a new one!

My Day: So I realized too late that I did not have a copy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, so I decided to do this week a bit out of order.  Instead of starting with Fantastic Beasts, I am going to end my week with the Screen Play/Companion Book.  While driving home and driving to Zumba, I listened to the first four chapters of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.

Day 2: May 16th
Book I'm Reading: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone || J.K. Rowling
Chapters I've Read Today: I listened to 1 (almost) chapter
Total Pages Read:
Book(s) I've Completed: n/a
Challenge I've Participated In: None today! I need to get going on  my pictures for the event!

My Day: I had this grand plan to listen to chapters 5-8 on my way home from work yesterday, but the universe had other plans as I got a phone call while I was leaving work that I had to take.  Hopefully I can get more chapters completed by the end of Wednesday!

Book(s) I've Completed: n/a
Challenge I've Participated In: None yet! But I am planning to do a few tomorrow since I received my copy of Fantastic Beasts in the mail!

My Day: I actually had some down time at work today, so I was able to listen to the book while catching up on some reports and getting other things done.  I also spent the hour drive home listening to the book so I was able to catch up on my chapters.  Honestly, I did not want to stop but I got home and had other things I needed to get done!

Book I'm Reading: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone || J.K. Rowling
Chapters I've Read Today: Chapters 13-15
Total Pages Read: n/a

Challenge I've Participated In: Apparently my plan to take pictures yesterday failed and I didn't do any.  Hopefully the weather is decent today and I can get out there and take a few fun pictures with my books.

My Day: The drive home has been crazy this week, so I listened to the chapters on my way home.  It is getting to the good part in the book so I am super excited to finish the book tomorrow!

Day 5: May 19
Book I'm Reading: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone || J.K. Rowling
Chapters I've Read Today: 16-17
Total Pages Read: n/a
Book(s) I've Completed: 1
Challenge I've Participated In: I actually did a few of the Instagram challenges today! It was fun coming up with creative ways to interact with the books!

My Day: So I had a short day at work today, but still managed to have a SUPER long commute home from work - this ended up working out perfectly because I was almost done with the book and wanted to complete it.  I was also super excited because my husband ended up buying my the rest of the companion books and a whole new set of the Harry Potter books.  Ours are in horrible shape so it only made sense to buy new ones right?

Day 6: May 20
Book I'm Reading: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them || J.K. Rowling
Chapters I've Read Today: I actually was reading the companion book so there really weren't chapters with the book for me to read.
Total Pages Read: 35 for this book
Book(s) I've Completed: One || Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone || J.K. Rowling
Challenge I've Participated In: I took both of the quizzes for the week!

My Day: Saturday was a fairly quiet day for me, so I spent the afternoon relaxing at home.  I really should have read spent more time reading, but I had a bad headache and just wanted to veg out.

Day 7: May 21
Book I'm Reading: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them || J.K. Rowling
Chapters I've Read Today: 0
Total Pages Read: 35 for Fantastic Beasts
Book(s) I've Completed: One || Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone || J.K. Rowling
Challenge I've Participated In: None today

My Day: Sunday was such a fun day! I spent the afternoon at PotterCon in Detroit! It was so much fun to participate in trivia and see everyone dressed up in their costumes.  The picture above is of me screaming with the Sirius Black wanted poster because they were doing a giveaway through Instagram.

Photo Challenge

Another fun part of this Readathon is the Photo Challenge they are hosting! I am hoping to complete some {if not all} of the photos over the next week.  Want to follow along? Check out my Bookstagram: @RunwithJackabee_Reads.  I will also be posting my daily/weekly updates there as well.

I'd love to hear from you!

Mother's Day Weekend 2017

Happy Hump Day everyone! I hope the first half of your week has been excellent and you are looking forward to some fun plans the rest of the week!

I wanted to do a quick update to share a little bit about our Mother's Day festivities and our weekend! My birthday fell on Friday last week, so I took the day off and spend the afternoon/evening hiking and spending time with friends play video games and card games.  On Saturday we spent the evening celebrating my birthday with my family.

On Sunday, we managed to sleep in before needing to get ready to take our mom's out for Mother's Day.  A few years back we started a tradition of taking the moms {and dads} out to brunch at a local Golf Course.  This year we went to Shepherd's Hollow by our home and I think out of the three we've been to, it was my second favorite.  The food was delicious and we enjoyed a nice lunch talking and sharing stories with each other.

After brunch, Justin and his dad spend some time hitting a few golf balls at the driving range while his mom and I watched.  Sunday was such a lovely day! Michigan has been all over the the place lately with crazy weather so we were all excited to have some sun and a light breeze to enjoy.

After watching the guys hit the golf balls, we made our way home to spend a lazy afternoon enjoying the sun.  For me this included setting up my new hammock my parents got me and sitting outside while reading The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd.  I sat in the hammock and read until the sun started going down and it got too cold for me to be out there.

Overall the weekend was so much fun! Busy, but very fun.

Question of the Day: What did you do to celebrate mom this year?

I'd love to hear from you!
