tuesday things.

Happy Tuesday friends! I hope your week got off to a great start and you are not feeling the slump of Monday like I am today! I've been wanting to start a few new series with you all for a while, but never felt I had enough content to make it worth your while.  However, today I think is a good time to start with you all!

A while ago, I came across the blog How Sweet Eats and fell in love with her style and with all of her "crumbs".  Her blog primarily focuses on cooking/baking and all things kitchen, but throughout the month, she does some fun posts like Tuesday things, monthly favorites: lifestyle and makeup, and all of her fun travel adventures.  Her crumbs inspired me so much that I wanted to start doing a weekly Tuesday things post with you all!

The idea behind Tuesday Things is to share a collection of random things that have brought a smile to my face over the past week - whether that is food, a book or a person.

So here we go!

Tuesday Things

1. I am sad that Bath and Body Works did not bring back the Farmstand Apple scent this year, but I did manage to find the wall plus on Amazon so I snatched a bunch of them up.  I love the scent and will continue to use it until I run out of fresheners.

2. I bought my first ever Scentsy warmer and bar this week and I cannot wait to get it in the mail.  I hadn't planned to buy anything from Scentsy, but when I saw their Autism Speaks warmer, I was sucked in.  Now to see how to work everything once it arrives!

3. I have been on the hunt for more booties.  I am in love with these booties from TOMS, but I am not sure if I should spend the $100 or not.  I'm upset at myself because I fell in love with a pair on Zulily, but did not buy them and now they're gone.  Silly me for not picking them up!

4. I am in love with this wristlet and the matching purse.  The color is perfect for Fall and it is my absolute favorite wallet ever.

5. We went apple picking this past weekend with our friends and it was so nice out.  The weather finally made it's way down to a more reasonable temperature which was perfect for enjoying time in the orchard grabbing apples.  I cannot wait to make some recipes with the apples!

6. Speaking of recipes, look at this recipe from Mix & Match Mama! Who doesn't love pumpkin and who doesn't love coffee cake? Put them together and YUM! She has a few cookbooks out that I have been wanting to purchase, but I think I will ask for them for Christmas

7. Have you watched The Good Doctor at all? If you have not, I would highly recommend it.  It came out last week and it is one of the only shows that I will stay up passed my bedtime to watch.  The past 2 weeks have sucked me in and I cannot wait to see what the show brings.

8. Setting up my office has been both a fun and frustrating process.  I think I am almost to the point where I will feel good about the space, but I still need to hang the artwork.  Good thing Target has these cute frames for all of my art I've purchased while traveling.

9. We're hosting a Halloween party this year and I am having such a hard time finding a costume.  I think I will have to go shopping for one next weekend to see what's out there.  I kind of want to do steam punk but would have to kind of assemble a costume.

10. We're working on a big trip for next year and I am so excited! Once I know what the official plan will be for 2018, I will let you know!
I'd love to hear from you!

October: Month @ a Glance

Happy October 1st Friends!

We are officially into Fall and I am SO excited.  Fall means cooler temperatures, comfortable clothes, lots of coffee and cider and beautiful leaves.  Fall in Michigan is like a fresh of breath air for me.  My life starts to get busier with the holidays ahead, but I also feel like I am able to just be in the moment and enjoy time with family and friends.

October is always a busy month for us between our anniversary, my niece's birthday and our anniversary, but that is okay! These are all very exciting things filled with love and joy.

So let's talk a little bit about what our month will look like!

On the Agenda this Month:

1. Apple Picking!
2. Ladies Retreat with my Mom
3. McKenna's Birthday Party
4. JP Football
5. Halloween Party at Our House
6. Love Never Dies Opera
7. Our Anniversary
8. Halloween Festivities

I am so excited to do ALL of these things! October is my favorite month of the year (besides December) and I always look forward to Apple Picking and celebrating our anniversary.

Goals for October 2017!

1. Read Two Books! This month my goal is to read two books: Before She Ignites by Jodi Meadows from my September Owlcrate and A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman.  A Man Called Ove has been on my list for a loooonggg time, so I am excited to read it.

2. Clean out the pantry.  Added this one back to the list because I did not even attempt to do this in September.

3. Finish moving boxes to the basement from the garage.  Justin built the shelves, now all I have to do is really start moving them.  I figure if I do 1-2 boxes a day, it will get done by the end of October.

4. Paint the ceiling in the mudroom/powder room.  We know we are for sure going to paint the ceiling white in this space, so I am hoping to get the ceiling painted in the mudroom/powder room this month.

5. Order blinds for the garage and powder room.  I have been looking to order blinds for this space for a loooonggg time, and since we are looking to update them both, I am planning to order some for the space from Select Blinds.  They seem to be reasonably priced and I am not looking for anything too fancy, so I think we can install them ourselves.

Completed in September 2017!

1. Read Two Books! In September I finished: The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee and  The Hearts we Sold by Emily Lloyd-Jones.  To see my review, check out the recap I posted on Friday!

2. Clean out the pantry.  Did not finish or even start this task.  I'm a bit sad.

3. Start moving boxes to the basement from the garage.  Justin finished building majority of the shelves, so we started moving boxes down to the basement from the garage.  We are no where near done, but I am glad we have started this process.

4. Start working on the mudroom/powder room.  So far for the mudroom/powder room upgrade I have: picked out a paint (I think), picked out the blinds for the window and come up with a few decorative ideas for the space.  So I think I can count this as "started working" on the mudroom/powder room!

Question of the Day: What fun things do you have in October?
I'd love to hear from you!

What's Up Wednesday #16

Happy Hump Day friends!

Today I am participating in another round of What's Up Wednesday

Once a month I join in the fun with SheafferMel and Shay answering some fun questions and sharing what fun things are happening.  Here's the questions we answer every month...

What We're Eating this Week
Ya'll, I finally got around to trying Shipt, and let me tell you, it has been amazing.  Grocery shopping is one of those chores that neither Justin nor myself want to do.  Thankfully Shipt makes it easy! For a small fee (think $8 or so a month), you can do all your grocery shopping virtually and have some deliver them right to your house! I was nervous to try this out, but I am SO glad I did.  If you use this link, you can get $10 off your order! But I digress.... This week we are having: Nacho Pie, Shepherd's Pie, Grilled Chicken and Potatoes and Chicken Parmesan.

What I'm Reminiscing About
I am coming up to the one year mark of buying my car and it is kind of hard to believe we are already there.  I've had a few issues with the car, but I think the dealership has gotten it figured out! Maybe now my gas mileage will be accurate, ha!

What I'm Loving
I love that we are coming up to the holiday season.  Christmas is three months away and I have already started planning out November and December and I cannot wait to spend time with family and friends celebrating the holidays.

What We've Been Up To
Last weekend Justin and I went to the Michigan Renaissance Festival and next weekend we are heading to apple picking! I love going to pick apples with my friends and the weather will be perfect while we are there! Michigan is having another Indian Summer {which is nice}, but I am ready for 60+ and sunny.

What I'm Dreading
Painting our mudroom.  We finally finished decorating our dining room so we are moving onto our next project which is the mudroom/powder room! I'm excited with some of the decoration ideas I've found on Pinterest, but I am also not looking forward to painting both rooms.  Check out some of my inspiration below!

What I'm Working On
Lately I've been trying to keep up with my chores around the house.  The goal is to keep on top of them instead of letting them pile up and then become overwhelming later.  It has been an interesting concept so far, but if I feel it is successful, I will definitely do a post on how breaking it down into smaller chunks has helped me.

What I'm Looking Forward To
As I mentioned earlier, I love the holidays and I am looking forward to apple picking, Friendsgiving and all of the fun that comes along with the holidays!

What I'm Watching/Reading
Later this week I will be sharing the two books I read this month! But my current read is, The Hearts We Sold by Emily Lloyd-Jones (and since the Ninjago commercials, I cannot say Lloyd without saying La-Lloyd).  It is an interesting read and definitely worth checking out.  Be looking for my recap later this week!

What I'm Listening To
Just a whole lot of Spotify.  Nothing too exciting.

What I'm Wearing
The last week has been so hot in Michigan that I have been wearing mostly short sleeves to work with a cardigan because it's hot getting into and out to the parking garage, but the AC at works makes me cold.  So I am really just having a hard time keeping my temperature regulated.

What I'm Doing this Weekend
Friday night my friends and I are going out for a girls night out, Saturday we have no real plans, then Sunday we're going apple picking (in case you didn't know already).  I'm looking forward to spending time with our friends!
