2018 Reading Plans

Happy Wednesday Friends! I hope your first few days back to work have been going well and you are adjusting to the new routine of 2018!

So every year I tell myself I am going to read more books and every year I miss my goal by several more than one book.  In 2018, I am going to try hard to hit my goal of at least 40 books {and if I'm feeling ambitious, maybe I'll go for 50 books}.  So why the jump from a goal of 24 in 2017 to 40 in 2018? I actually have a little guide to help me this time!

Have you heard of POPSUGAR? They created the perfect Reading Challenge that helps readers not only broaden their horizons a little bit, but it also challenges them.  I came across this list in one of my book groups on Facebook and thought, why not?! I'm sure some of my TBR Pile will tackle some of these items and it will force me to look outside of my comfortable genre and try something a little different this time around.

To make this process more fun, I joined the 2018 POPSUGAR Reading Challenge Facebook Group, as well as their group on Goodreads group to connect with other readers and get inspiration for book categories for which I may get stuck.  I'm hoping by connecting to other readers, I will be more inspired to read more through 2018.

Okay! So here is the list of book topics.  To get your own printable copy from POPSUGAR, click here.
POPSUGAR also has and advanced list for those readers looking for the extra challenge in 2018.  Right now I am not planning to tackle that list, but if I do decide to, I will be sure to share it here on the blog! To see that list, go here.

In honor of challenging myself to read more this year, I have created a page where you can follow along with my reading and read reviews of the books I have read so far this year.  Check out that page here.

I'm always looking to add more friends on Goodreads too! So if you are a member of Goodreads, check out my profile and send a friend request my way!

Question of the Day: What books are you planning to read this month/year?

January: Month @ a Glance 2018!

Happy New Year Friends!

I hope your year has started wonderfully {and you're not too hungover today}.

I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that the last time I stopped by here was two months ago today.  I'll be honest with everyone and say that I just needed to take a little break.  I love blogging, but I also felt I needed to just take a step back from everything I've had going on in my life and just focus on my husband, family and friends.

Thankfully, taking time off to rest and recharge has really helped me take a break and give me a chance to  get some much needed R&R.  Last year I felt like I started the year face down, but 2018 started with my head held high and my face full of determination.  Over the next few days, I'll share a few different posts about what I am looking forward to in 2018 and my goals for myself.

On the Agenda this Month:

1. Product Premiere for Thirty-One!
2. Justin's Birthday // Birthday Party!
3. Hair Appointment - I think I'm switching up my color!
4. Follow Up Allergist Appointment

Goals for January

1. Read Two Books: This year, I'd very much like to actually read two to three books a month
so this month I'm planning to read two books at minimum.  Come back in a few days and see what my reading goal is for 2018!

2. Clean out the pantry.  With the new year here, it is time to start decluttering our house.  My goal is to go through everything in the pantry and donate/trash anything we no longer need and organize anything we will keep.  Our pantry is filled with a random assortment of stuff and it only makes sense to sort through and organize it all.

3. Finish moving boxes from the garage to the basement.  Justin was kind enough to finish building the shelving in our basement, so my goal is to get all of the boxes into the basement that belong in the basement and give the garage a good clean down.

4. Get blinds/curtains for the garage and guest bathroom.  Have any of you ordered blinds from Select Blinds before? I have been on their site so many times looking at blinds and I need to just take the time to get the measurements and get the blinds put in the garage and the downstairs bathroom {maybe I'll get lucky and catch them while they're having a sale!!}

Question of the Day: How are you kicking off the New Year?

I'd love to hear from you!

November: Month @ a Glance

Happy November 1st Friends!

I hope you had a wonderful Halloween yesterday! I had a blast passing out candy to the kiddos in our neighborhood and listening to the awesome spooky music.  I think my favorite costume of the night was four teen girls dressed up as a puzzle! They even "assembled" the puzzle for me which was so cool.

It's hard to believe we are "officially" into the Holiday Season! With Thanksgiving in 23 days and Christmas in 53 days I am super excited! I've even started brainstorming some awesome Christmas ideas for friends/family!

So let's talk a little bit about what our month will look like!

On the Agenda this Month:

1. Pick Up Justin's New Phone!
2. Snow Show with Justin's Family
3. Barnes and Noble Holiday Webinar (excited to check this out)
4. Justin's friend is visiting for the weekend
5. Saline Craft Show with Justin's Sister
6. Friendsgiving!
7. Thanksgiving Holiday
8. Black Friday Shopping
9. My cousin's baby shower!

I am so excited to do ALL of these things! Especially all of the things that involve time with our family and friends!

Goals for November 2017!

1. Read Two Books! This month my goal is to read two books: Before She Ignites by Jodi Meadows from my September Owlcrate and A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman.  A Man Called Ove has been on my list for a loooonggg time, so I am excited to read it.

2. Clean out the pantry.  Justin started cleaning out the food and organized it a little bit so all I need to do is go in there and use my boxes and organize things in there.

3. Finish moving boxes to the basement from the garage.  We really need to get working on this.  I'll have a long weekend over Thanksgiving, so my goal will be to work on this space.

4. Start (and maybe finish) Christmas Shopping.  I am hoping to get going on shopping so we can enjoy our December and not be worried about shopping.

Goals for October 2017!

1. Read Two Books! I did not finish either of these books and I am so sad! They both look so great so I am hoping I can work on them in November.

2. Clean out the pantry.  Did not even touch the pantry; however, Justin spent some time cleaning out the food so he gave me a jump start.

3. Finish moving boxes to the basement from the garage.  They're still sitting out there... ha.

4. Paint the ceiling in the mudroom/powder room.  Also did not do this one.

5. Order blinds for the garage and powder room.  Oh look, didn't do this one either.  *facepalm*

Question of the Day: What fun things do you have in November?
I'd love to hear from you!
