Friday Favorites #2

Happy Friday Friends!
It's FRIDAY, and I've decided to join a new linky party! Every week I will be sharing a few of my favorite things from the past week.  The goal is to share random things, but I may end up doing some themed ones along the way.

I'm linking up today with my friends AndreaErika and Narci for Friday Favorites!

Strawberry banana smoothies from Bozii.  I have been trying to find a good meal for breakfast and these smoothies have been hitting the spot 100% for me this past week.  To make it fill me up for longer, I have been having them add a scoop of protein powder so that I am not starving within the hour.

This little hedgehog is my spirit animal.  I came across this video on Imgur and had to share it with everyone.  This little guy is the epitome of hangry - I mean look at the picture on the left.  He is so angry that he has not eaten yet.  Now look at the picture on the right - he's had something to eat and is a happy camper.  Seriously the best representation of hangry if you ask me.

I am super excited because I have been trying to come up with a good solution for what to do with my old t-shirts and my friend told me about Project Repat.  To get your quilt made, all you have to do is pick what size quilt you want, pick your background color, cut your shirts up {they provide a tutorial on how to do this} and mail them out.  They will make the quilt and send it back to you free of charge.  I cut up my shirts and mailed them out to Project Repat yesterday! I cannot wait to get my quilt back from them.

If this is something you are interested in, check out this link for 20% off a quilt!  I will be sure to share a review of the company with you all once I get my quilt back.

Christina and I have already signed up to run the Detroit 1/2 Marathon in October and we have a goal to finish the race in 3:30.  Seeing as we finished the Disney half in 3:55, I think this would be a reasonable goal.  Part of the training we have set up for ourselves is to run at least 1 mile every time we go to the gym.  For the very first mile, our goal was 13:00 and we finished well ahead of that.  I'm hoping that by the time we're finished I can run a mile in 10:00 or less.  Fingers crossed!

What's Up Wednesday #6

Happy Wednesday Friends! Today I am linking up with Mix and Match FamilyPinterest Told Me To and The Larson Lingo for the What's Up Wednesday Post.  What's Up Wednesday occurs on the last Wednesday of every month and it is a fun list of questions getting ready for the upcoming month!

What We're Eating this Week:
If I am being honest, we are eating a whole lot of nothing good.  We desperately need to go grocery shopping and I need to step up my game on meal planning.  Let's just say 2016 has been off to a rough start in the food front.  Anyone have some good crock pot recipes? I am in dire need.

What I'm Reminiscing About
Lately I have been missing my sweet grandma.  It has been just over a year since Heaven got the best Angel it has ever seen.  She was such a light in my life and I will forever miss her sweet smile and soft hugs.

 .

What I'm Loving
The TV show "Galavant".  If you have not had a chance to watch it, I would highly recommend at least checking it out.  The show always have me laughing and the humor appeals to all types of people {which is great since Justin and I have very different senses of humor}.

What We've Been Up To
The beginning of this year has been absolutely chaotic and I've been loving every minute of the chaos.  The first weekend in January we went to Florida for my first 1/2 Marathon, the second weekend we spend up north in the Upper Peninsula, and last weekend I celebrated my friends birthday.  So busy, but so much fun!

What I'm Dreading
Upcoming doctor appointments.  I have to schedule my physical and my lady doctor visit and it looks like I will be going to a lady doctor this time around.  I really hate seeing new doctors and I have had some AWFUL experiences with medical billing recently so I am dreading the combination of all of that.

What I'm Working On
I came across this adorable pattern for a poncho and I had to knit one for my niece.  I bought the materials around the New Year and went to town.  Right now I am working on the hood portion, then I will be knitting the pocket and the ears.  I cannot wait to give this to her!

What I'm Looking Forward To
My cousin's baby shower this weekend.  My cousins and I have been working to make this the most fun and adorable shower possible.  The shower is this coming Saturday, so I will definitely be sharing about her shower sometime next week!

What I'm Watching/Reading
Right now I am reading Butternut Summer by Mary McNear

I also have been watching The Bachelor.  Honestly, this is one of my most guilty pleasures and I look forward to watching it every week.  So far, this season has been a train wreck and I love it.  Another part of The Bachelor I love is reading the recaps from Pinterest Told Me To.  Her recaps are hilarious!

What I'm Listening To
The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey.  I was hoping to finish the book before the movie came out last weekend; alas, time has not been in my favor.  Thankfully, I will be able to take some time to listen to it before Justin and I {hopefully}go see it this coming weekend.

What I'm Wearing
A ton of scarves - today I am actually wearing the one I got while we were in Newport.  I love wearing scarves, especially when it is on the chillier side.  Thankfully, I have a ton to choose from. Speaking of which, do any of you have recommendations on how to organize scarves? I am looking for a better way than what I have right now.

What I'm Doing this Weekend
Baby shower and Painting with a Twist!

Bonus: My Favorite Valentine's Treat
Little Debbie Valentine's Iced Brownies - so delicious but SO bad for me.

January Book Review

I cannot believe we are already at the end of January!

For 2016, I have decided that it is important for me to take the time to read books... I know, I know, I say this every year, but this year I promise will be different!

The goal is to each month, read a random assortment of books and share a few thoughts about the book (but not too much as I don't want to spoil the fun for anyone).  I love reading and I love sharing books with you guys.

Plus, this is a great opportunity for you all to share some of your awesome reads with me!

If you want to follow/friend me on Goodreads, click here.

And you can keep track all year long by clicking 2016 Books at the top of my blog.  I will keep a running list of books right there for you.

Okay, time for the books I've read // currently reading in January!

My mom recommended this book to me as a quick read and boy was she right! Within the first ten pages I was hooked and did not want to put the book down.  I started reading this book on the plane down to Orlando and managed to read 100 pages on the flight there and another 100 on the flight back.  And of course I finished it while we were heading home from the Upper Peninsula.  If you like a book that puts you right into the story and keeps you on your toes, I would highly recommend this one.  I do have to warn that this book is told from several different perspectives and the timeline skips around, so if that is not your thing, I would maybe pass on this one.  Otherwise, I would highly recommend The Girl on the Train

I have not quite finished this book yet, but I thought I would share with you ladies.  I had the amazing opportunity to see Jennifer Rothschild speak a few years back and she is amazing.  Invisible is perfect for any woman who is struggling to find value in herself and in her relationship with Jesus.  Plus, Rothschild straight talks about her own life, which I can appreciate.  She also has a version of this book geared specifically for young women that could be good for the pre-teen or teen in your life.

Well that is all for my books for January! Make sure to stop by tomorrow when I am link up with some awesome ladies for....

Plus, we have a bonus question this week:
What is your favorite Valentine's Treat?

Question of the Day: What good books are you currently reading?

I'd love to hear from you!

Weekend Highs & Lows #17

Hello everyone!I hope you had a wonderful weekend filled with fun and exciting adventures  If you want more information about the party, please check out this post.

Highs:

Friday night the girls and I went out to celebrate Christina's birthday and it was so much fun! Our local town has a fire and ice festival, so we went there to check out the sculptures and walk around.  They also had fireworks on Friday night so we watched those before grabbing a bit to eat at Mr. B's.  The evening ended with a fun time dancing and hanging out.  It was so great to just enjoy my friends and get out of the house.

Happy Birthday Christina!!

Friday Favorites #1

Happy Friday Friends!
It's FRIDAY, and I've decided to join a new linky party! Every week I will be sharing a few of my favorite things from the past week.  The goal is to share random things, but I may end up doing some themed ones along the way.

*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*

I have been pinning all kinds of inspirational images to use on the background of my phone.  Since I spend the majority of my time using my phone for things, it only seems fitting to put inspirational photos as my background.  To find these and other great options, check out my iPhone Backgronds board on Pinterest.

*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*

I absolutely love going to the Upper Peninsula and spending a few days away from the hustle and bustle of life.  This trip to the cabin proved to be awesome with beautiful snow everywhere.  I cannot wait to plan our next trip up there!

*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*

I love baby showers so I was thrilled to be invited to my dear friends shower.  I have already started making some gifts for her and will be working on a special surprise for her. {For safety precautions, I have blurred the location and date}.

*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*

This is one of the two books I am reading in January and so far I love it! I'm just over halfway through the book and I cannot wait to see how it ends! Make sure to check back toward the end of the month - I'll be sharing my review of the book then.
