What's Up Wednesday #12

Happy Wednesday Friends! Today I am linking up with Mix and Match FamilySheaffer Told Me To and The Larson Lingo for the What's Up Wednesday Post.  What's Up Wednesday occurs on the last Wednesday of every month and it is a fun list of questions getting ready for the upcoming month!

What We're Eating this Week

Since I am recovering from a stomach bug this week, so I am at the mercy of what my stomach feels comfortable digesting.  I am hoping maybe some pasta and steak will be in my near future.  Especially after seeing this recipe on the Dash of Evans blog for One Pot Penne Rosa.  It looks SO yummy!

What I'm Reminiscing About

For some reason our last apartment keeps popping up in my mind.  With having our first big party at the house, it was kind of bitter sweet thinking about the fact that we would never have another party at the apartment again.  I am excited for all of the parties we have upcoming, but I am also a little sad that we won't be doing anything like that again at the apartment.

What I'm Loving

We have had some of the most beautiful sunsets around here lately! The weather cooled off a little bit which brought us some much needed rain and because of all of the rain clouds, we have been experiencing some of the most colorful and warm sunsets.  I am hoping we continue to get some beautiful sunsets for a little while longer since they are so beautiful.

What We've Been Up To

Two weekends ago we had our housewarming party and since then we have been recovering.  The next thing on our to do list is to order our Dining Room Table and get the rest of the boxes unpacked.  Thankfully, Justin and some friends organized our garage in a way that allows us to park in our garage.  But we really need to get the boxes out of the garage before it gets too cold out.

What I'm Dreading

Honestly, there is not a lot going on that I would say I am "dreading".  Things have been going pretty well lately.

What I'm Working On

I am in the process of making my third Renaissance Festival Costume! This year I decided to go a little more muted with more browns and greens.  So far I have the bodice over halfway done, but the skirt is what is the most time consuming part of the costume.  I'm going in a few weeks, so I really need to get a move on for this!

What I'm Looking Forward To

I am looking forward to Fall and all the things that come along with it! Yates Cider Mill has already opened up for the season and I am SO excited to get out there for a nice long walk and some delicious cider and donuts.  My friend, Erica, went there over the weekend and took this picture.  Doesn't it look SO good?

What I'm Watching/Reading

While on my trip to Traverse City I picked up a few books and I am excited to read both of them. The plan is to read Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and The Ruins of Gorlan (The Ranger's Apprentice Series #1) during the month of September.  I really want to get Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children finished before the movie comes out on September 30th! Who is planning to see that one?

What I'm Listening To

One of the cool parts of taking classes at CycleBar is the fact that they send you the workout playlist after the class is finished.  This is one of the playlists I grabbed from a class last week.  Unfortunately, I may not be going back for a while because it's a little too expensive and I missed out on the 10-10-10 challenge due to having the Stomach Flu.

What I'm Wearing

Two of my coworkers have these shoes and I fell in love.  So of course, when DSW was having a sale, I grabbed myself a pair in both brown and black.  I am super picky about shoes and was super excited that these were so comfortable when I tried them on.  To see them for yourself, go to the DSW website.

What I'm Doing this Weekend

The original plan was to go up north for Labor Day this weekend, but we had a change of plans and do not have anything planned.  I think we are going to work on finishing unpacking and getting a few things ordered for the house that we need.

August Book Review

Happy Tuesday Friends! I hope your week got off to a great start and you have exciting things planned for this week.

For 2016, I have decided that it is important for me to take the time to read books... I know, I know, I say this every year, but this year I promise will be different!

The goal is to each month, read a random assortment of books and share a few thoughts about the book (but not too much as I don't want to spoil the fun for anyone).  I love reading and I love sharing books with you guys.

Plus, this is a great opportunity for you all to share some of your awesome reads with me!

If you want to follow/friend me on Goodreads, click here.

And you can keep track all year long by clicking 2016 Books at the top of my blog.  I will keep a running list of books right there for you.

Okay, time for the books I've read // currently reading in August!

I had added Ready Player One by Ernest Cline to my to be read list a few months back because it sounded interesting and something that Justin and I would have enjoyed to read together.  So of course I was excited when Justin downloaded it on Audible.  We listened to the book in a little over a week and it was so good.  If you like gaming centered books, I would recommend it.  The book caught me from the first chapter and kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end.

I tried starting reading The Light Between Oceans back in March and just could not get into the book.  I think I was not in the right state of mind to read it then, so I decided to give it another shot.  I think the movie advertisements caught my attention and I was drawn to the book.  So I grabbed it again and really enjoyed it this time around.  It definitely pulls at your heart strings and you find yourself torn with what to think about the whole situation.

Books I purchased in August:

So this month I managed to pick up a few books while on my trip to Traverse City and I am excited to read both of them.  This month I picked up Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and The Ruins of Gorlan (The Ranger's Apprentice Series #1).  I picked up the second book per the recommendation of someone at the book store while we were there.  Apparently Justin had already read these series and he is excited I am going to read them too.

Well that is all for my books for August!

To check out the other books I have read this year, check out my 2016 Books tab at the top of my page or check out my reading list on Goodreads! If you have a Goodreads account, make sure to add me because I am always on the hunt for a good book recommendation.

Question of the Day: What good books are you currently reading?

I'd love to hear from you!

Friday Favorites #13

Happy Friday Friends!
It's FRIDAY, and that means I am participating in a fun linky party! Every week I will be sharing a few of my favorite things from the past week.  The goal is to share random things, but I may end up doing some themed ones along the way.

I'm linking up today with AndreaErika and Narci for Friday Favorites!

Michigan has been having some rain and storms lately which we are so glad for! We have not had a whole lot of rain this summer and getting some rain meant for water for the plants and for cooler temperatures.  One of the pleasant side effects from the rain is the beautiful sunsets.  With the clouds hanging out, it makes for some beautiful colors in the sky as the sun says goodnight.  I grabbed this picture on my way home from Cycle the other day and fell in love.  It feels like almost every day we have been having these wonderful sunsets and I am so thrilled.

This shirt popped up on my Facebook feed yesterday and I fell in love instantly.  Fall is my favorite time of year and this shirt perfectly depicts exactly what the fall means to me.  I am hoping to get one of these shirts for this upcoming season.  We shall see!

*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*

Last week while shopping for a gift for my father-in-law's birthday, I came across this bag and almost purchased it for him.  Both Justin's dad and I have extremely sarcastic and dry senses of humor, so when I saw this bag, I laughed out loud.  I stood there for easily five minutes debating whether or not to get it for him because while I know he would find it funny, it could come across as rude.  So I ultimately decided to not get it for him because Justin never provided any feedback and I had to get going.

*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*

This popped up in one of my travel groups on Facebook and I love it! I have been getting a bad case of the travel bug lately and this perfectly describing what I have been dreaming about.  Thankfully I have a few trips in the works for this year and next year so the need will be filled shortly.
*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*----*

On Wednesday, mom and I went to a cake decorating class at our local community center.  Neither of us have had proper cake decorating training before, so it was so fun to learn a few techniques and get some pointers from a pastry chef.  It was great to meet some new people and to have a fun time decorating cakes with my mom.

Well that is all for today! I hope you have a wonderful weekend filled with wonderful adventures! I'll be back Monday with a Weekend Recap!

Favorite Picture of Summer 2016

Happy Thursday friends! I hope your week is going well and you are having a successful week so far.  This week has flown by for me since I was working at home on Monday to get some windows replaced.

Today I wanted to do a quick post with another awesome idea from The Sits Girls and their writing prompts.  With summer winding down, you'll notice I'm doing some recaps from the Summer 2016 Playlist to today's favorite picture from Summer 2016.

When it came to picking just one picture from the summer, I honestly was not sure which one I would pick.  This summer has been filled with buying our first house, a few fun parties, working out, a trip to Traverse City, golf, and our housewarming party.  But after spending some time looking through all of the pictures, I ended up picking this one:

This picture was taken while at The Jolly Pumpkin in Traverse City.  We had gotten to the restaurant but had a 20 or so minute wait, so we decided to just walk around and enjoy the sunset.  Of course we decided to grab some pictures because the clouds were out of this world and the sun looked so pretty.
Just to be silly, I asked the girls to grab a few glamour shots of me because I never really like how I look and I was feeling cute that day.  Honestly, this is the first ever romper I found that I felt I looked nice in.  Being curvy makes it almost impossible to find a romper that does not ride too high up my rear end (sorry if that is TMI).

So when the girls took this picture of me, I was thrilled.  And it quickly became my favorite picture of this year because of the fact that I felt good and felt like I looked good in the picture.  Plus it brings up good memories of my wonderful trip to Traverse City with some awesome ladies.

So that is my favorite picture from this summer! I hope your summer ends with a bang and you have a lot to look forward to this Fall.

Question of the Day: What is your favorite picture from this summer?

I'd love to hear from you!

Summer 2016 Playlist

Happy Hump Day friends! I hope you are having a wonderful week so far and are enjoying the work week this far.  A while back I wanted to start a monthly playlist post, but it never came to fruition because of how busy I have been the last few months and my inability to get my playlist in order.  So today I wanted to share with you my Summer 2016 playlist.

I know that summer is coming to an end, so it seems a bit silly to be posting my Summer 2016 playlist, but I also wanted to share with you all some of the music that I have come to know and love over the past few months.  The playlist ranges from hip hop, to throwback music and some folk music.  You will notice that one of the songs gives a big nod to the high five state (yay for Michigan).

So here it is!

I finally downloaded Spotify after I started going to CycleBar because they use Spotify to create their playlists for class.  And of course I love some of the high paced music they used and wanted to download the music for myself.  After poking around for a little bit, I realized how much I love this app and fully intend on signing up for their membership once my free week runs out.

If you look closely at this playlist, you will notice a few of these songs are from the Suicide Squad movie.  Of course since I loved the movie, I knew I would love the music too.  So I added them to my Summer 2016 Playlist.

I think out of all the songs I have on my playlist, my favorite for the Summer 2016 would have to be Can't Stop the Feeling by Justin Timberlake.  I love how upbeat the music is and have some great memories associated with the song.

Question of the Day: What is your favorite song of summer?

I'd love to hear from you!
