What's Up Wednesday #13

Happy Wednesday Friends! Today I am linking up with Mix and Match FamilySheaffer Told Me To and The Larson Lingo for the What's Up Wednesday Post.  What's Up Wednesday occurs on the last Wednesday of every month and it is a fun list of questions getting ready for the upcoming month!

What We're Eating this Week
On Monday we had some friends over and we had pot roast with mashed potatoes.  It is one of my favorite meals to make and eat because it is so easy to make and generally healthy.  To make things easy, I generally buy a roast, add some onions and carrots and add a packet of Campbell's Slow Cooker Sauces: Tavern Style Pot Roast.  If you have not checked out Campbell's sauces I highly recommend doing so! They are easy to cook with and are delicious.

What I'm Reminiscing About
The holidays are always my favorite time of year and they've been on my mind lately (probably because we finally put away our last Christmas decoration over the weekend).  There is just something so wonderful about the holidays.

What I'm Loving
On a whim, I used my Amazon gift card my brother got my for Christmas to order a coloring day-to-day calendar and I am SO glad I did! I am really enjoying having a different picture to color every day.  If you want to get one like mine, check out Johanna Basford's 2017 Coloring Day-by-Day Calendar.

What We've Been Up To
The weather has been rather gloomy around here lately so we've spent a ton of time indoors the last few weeks.  So of course the natural thing is to binge watch a show.  Our friend, Nick, introduced us to Rwby and we just finished Season One last night! You can watch the first three seasons on Netflix or you can get them on Amazon.

When we're not watching TV together, I have been still trying to finish Gilmore Girls.  I was not able to finish all of the seasons before the A Year in the Life, so I've been working through them whenever I can.  I am almost finished with Season 5 so I am getting there! Now to just find time to binge the last few seasons!

What I'm Dreading
If you've been reading the blog for a while, you know that I hate needles.  Well as part of my physical this year, I have to get my blood drawn and fast for 12 hours prior.  I am not looking forward to doing this, but I am thankful I have the ability to go to a doctor.

What I'm Working On
One of the things Justin and I have been doing lately is working on finishing the rooms in our home.  The next space we are focusing on is my office space.  We are planning to head to Ikea this weekend and get all of the parts for me to build my desk! I am super excited to finally get a space where I can organize all of my Thirty-One products, my desk stuff and my crafting supplies.

Check out how to make this desk here.

What I'm Looking Forward To
This weekend my mom and I are getting facials.  For Christmas, Justin gave me money to go and get a facial and while I was there the Esthetician gave me two 1/2 off coupons for another facial so we are going to get facials Saturday morning after we have brunch!

What I'm Watching/Reading
Right now I am reading What Alice Forget by Liane Morirarty{again}.  I started this book last summer and finally gave up and started it over earlier this year.  My plan is to have it read by the end of the month because it is just about time I dedicate the proper time this book deserves because it really is a good read.

What I'm Listening To
I have been loving the Proximity Playlist on Spotify.  Justin got me Spotify for our anniversary and it has been one of the most used gifts he has ever given me.  If you like techno/fast paced music then I highly recommend listing to the Proximity Playlist.

What I'm Wearing
On Sunday, Justin and I went to the mall so he could shop for some Funko Pops and while we were at Hot Topic I saw and fell in love with this cardigan! I love that the pattern is subtle but still obvious and I could easily wear this with many different outfits.

What I'm Doing this Weekend
I already talked about it earlier in the post, but my mom and I are getting facials on Saturday then on Sunday we are going to Ikea to get the pieces for me to build my desk! I am so excited.

Currently: January 2017

Happy Thursday friends! I hope your week has been going well so far and you are looking forward to some fun plans this weekend! Today I am doing another fun round of "currently".  I came across this idea on Becca Door's Blog - you should check her out!

ANTICIPATING: Setting up my craft room/office space! I've been spending so much time looking around Pinterest for how I want to set up my room and I think I may have overwhelmed myself a little bit.  But I think this is where I landed for my room (at least from a desk perspective) - what do you think?

CLEANING: Right now I am going through anything and everything and trying to purge as much as possible.  The goal is to get rid of everything we do not need anymore and donate or sell it to someone then organizing what is left behind.

DRINKING: Lots of coffee and water.  For some reason I have been having a hard time jumping back into the routine of work after having a few weeks off at the end of last year.  So coffee has been my lifeline.  Not to mention I was trying to win Starbucks for Life.

FEELING: Honestly, a little sad.  For some reason January gives me a hard time and I start missing my grandmother in January.  She was such a pillar in my family and my life and I start to miss her once the Christmas season ends.

WATCHING: Gilmore Girls! I watched Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life in November and love it. But I was not able to finish the series before it released so I have been working to finish the series so I can feel a little more caught up.

PLAYING: So Justin's mom grabbed a game in the clearance section at Target for me and we've been obsessed with it lately! If you love games that are challenging and more a "who done it" type game.  The game is called 221 B Baker Street and it is so much fun! We also picked up Pandemic on Monday while we were shopping around Target! I am so excited to play it next week when our friends come over for dinner! I have heard nothing but good things about it so far.

READING: I am still reading What Alice Forget.  I finally decided to start it over this month since it had been so long since I started the book and my goal is to finish it by the end of the month.  Plus I have another book coming in my Owlcrate this month that I want to read.

RECOVERING: My left arm is a little sore from Justin's birthday party on Sunday.  We went "bomb bowling" (which is where you use a football instead of a bowling ball) and it was so much fun.  But apparently, my throwing muscles are not in the best shape and they're sore.

TRYING: Took cook more at home.  We are trying to be more diligent with our health and our money, so what better way to improve our health and save some money than cooking at home? If you have any good recipes, please share them!

WEARING: For Christmas my mom bought me the cutest Poncho that I have been wearing at least one to two times a week either for work our just for lounging around.  I seriously feel like I am wearing a stylish blanket every time I leave the house.  I can't find the link to the exact one I have, but here is a cute one that is super similar!

Question of the Day: What do you have going on "currently"?
I'd love to hear from you!

25 Things To Do on a Cold Winter Day

Photo Cred: Photography for the Mood

With January in full swing, it is likely you have entered hibernation mode like me and are looking for things to do that are fun, relaxing and cheap during the colder winter months.

Here are 25 fun things you can do on a Cold Winter Day

1. Sleep, sleep, sleep.  If you have no plans for the day, why not put your favorite pajamas on and get your nap on.  Give your brain a chance to catch up on all of the sleep you've been denying it the last few week {or even months}.

2. Connect with your friends.  Have you been so busy lately that you have not been able to catch up with your friends? Why not abuse Skype, Facebook Messenger or FaceTime and catch up with as many friends as possible.  Maybe even entertain the thought of having a group video chat with your friends.

3. De-clutter your closet.  If napping is not your thing, why not take some time to go through your closet and get rid of things that you no longer need and reorganize what you have left.

4. Test your internet savvy-ness.  Now that you've gone through your closet, why not take some time and try to sell it online.  It is always good to have some extra cash to spend on things like mani/pedis or a nice massage.

5. Binge watch.  Now that you have some time to kill, why not watch a new show or re-watch one your favorite shows.  But be warned, you might not be able to leave your couch until you finish the entire season or show.

6. Learn yourself something.  If you can, why not take a course online for the day or watch a documentary.  If you want to feel productive, taking an online course is a good way to do so.

7. Try a new recipe.  Why not take some time to pick a new recipe and give it a try? Look through your cookbooks, check out Pinterest or check out Food Network for inspiration.  Just make sure that you have all the ingredients handy before you start cooking.  Why not get the family involved and have them help you try something new.

8. Have you been reading a book for the past year? Today is your day! Grab that book and start reading away.  You might be surprised at how much reading you can accomplish in one day.

9. Grab a game and start playing.  Do you have games that have been sitting in your closed for a while gathering dust? Why not break them out and get a good fun game going.  If you are looking for something a little different, why not try 221 B Baker Street or Pandemic.  Both are fun and challenging!

10. Take a trip down memory lane.  Grab your old photo albums and look through old pictures of your family and friends.  Read through letters from family and friends.  Read your journal and laugh at how dramatic you thought everything was when you were 12.  You might be surprised at how much these little things warm your heart and soul.

11. Try a new exercise at home.  This is the time of year where everyone is looking to lose some weight and get healthy, so why not take some time to try a new at home workout? YouTube will have all kinds of fun exercises you can try.

12. Practice your bar tending skills.  Is there a drink you've been wanting to try? Now is the perfect time! Grab your martini glass or wine glass and go to town.

13. Snuggle.  Grab blankets and pillows and snuggle with your partner, friend, furbabies or your blanket.

14. Have a dance party.  What better way to have fun and burn some parties then having a dance party in your living room? Put on the dancing music and shake your booty.

15. Karaoke time.  Have a karaoke machine at home? Break that bad boy out and sing your heart out.

16. Take a bath and pamper yourself.  Why not draw up a nice warm bath, drop in your favorite bath bomb and pamper yourself.

17. Use up your gift cards.  Did you get some great gift cards for Christmas? Now is a good time to put them to good use since you have the time to shop and there are deals everywhere on all things winter.

18. Update your professional resume or portfolio.  Take some time to update it to reflect everything you are working on currently and make it more appealing to potential employers.  Once you finish that, take some time to update your LinkedIn as well.

19. Take time to just relax.  Put on some relaxing music and start to release all of the stresses in your life.  For that 30 or so minutes, push all of your stress away and just be in the moment.

20. Redecorate a little bit.  Has it been a while since you've rearranged your furniture or updated your pictures? Take some time today to update your decor a little bit.  Even small changes can make your personal space feel more inviting.

21. Take online quizzes or personality tests.  Facebook is rampant with fun and silly quizzes and tests you can do to fill your time.  Why not see what house you belong to at Hogwarts?

22. Watch some DIY tutorials.  Is there something you've been wanting to try? Why not take time to watch a how-to and try it today? You have the time!

23. Have a snowball fight! Why not get outside and enjoy the snow a little bit?

24. Make a fun little gift for a friend or partner.  Make a picture collage, scrapbook or little note and give it to them.

25. If all else fails, stalk people on social media.  Who knows, maybe you'll find out something interesting.

Question of the Day: What fun things do you do when it's cold outside?
I'd love to hear from you!

Weekend Highs & Lows #50

Hello everyone!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend filled with fun and exciting adventures

Happy Monday friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! How many of you have today off of work? I will be working, but have the blessing of getting to work at home.  In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. here is a quote that I found inspiring from him.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Highs:

Saturday was another low-key day for Justin and I - we slept in, had cereal and basically spent the rest of the day at home relaxing with the except of when he went out to the driving range with his dad and ran a few errands.

Sunday was the big birthday party for Justin! We spent the morning lounging around then made our way to The Hub Stadium.  It was rather chaotic when we got there, but everything seemed to work out by the end of the event.

After two hours of "Bomb Bowling" we made our way back to our house to have cake and ice cream.  Then the evening ended watching YouTube Videos and falling asleep on the living room floor.  Nothing too exciting, but it was wonderful how many people came to celebrate Justin's birthday.  We feel so blessed to be surrounded by so many awesome people.

Lows:
The mix up at The Hub Stadium was rather disappointing.  While they handled everything like champs, I just felt generally like they were disorganized and a little unprofessional

Happy Birthday Justin!

Happy Thursday everyone! I hope your week has been amazing and you are looking forward to a fun weekend.

Today's post will be short and sweet as I am spending the day celebrating my husband.  Today is Justin's big 3-0! While he is not super big on birthdays, I wanted to make sure that we celebrate him and make sure he feels super special on this day (and every day really).

(Throwback to Justin when he was 20 and we were going to the movies)

To Justin:

Happy, happy, happy birthday sweetheart.  You are an incredible husband, the best friend I could ever have and I am so very proud of everything you have accomplished over the past 12 years of us being together.  I am so blessed to have you in my life and look forward to celebrating you today and every day.

Here's to the past 12 years and the next 80 years to come.

I love you.

See you all tomorrow where I will be sharing a new series ( I hope!)

I'd love to hear from you!

Workin' It Wednesday: New Year's Goals

Happy Wednesday Friends! I hope all is well and you are having a great day so far! Instead of doing a Stranded With... post every month this year, Shay and Erika have switched things up and have come up with "Workin' It Wednesdays".  I am excited about this one because some of the topics look very interesting! Make sure to check out the link up and join in on the fun either in the comment section of my blog or my Facebook Page.  I always love hearing from you all!

For the first topic of the year, we are focusing on....

New Year's Goals!

I know I already covered a little bit of my goals for the year in my Month @ a Glance post, but I thought it would be more fun to go more into depth on this post (plus I had planned to share my goals at some point, so why not now?)

So, without further adieu, here are my goals for 2017!

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Send one encouraging letter a month to someone.
For this year, I want to send one encouraging letter to a person per month.  I got these super cute cards from Thirty-One and they were so inspiring that I could not keep them for myself.  I know for me, when I get a letter in the mail it brings a big smile to myself, so I thought it would be fun to send letters to people to hopefully bring a smile to their face as well.

2. Lose 30 Pounds
I know, I know a weight loss goal? How cliche! But honestly, I finally feel like I am in a good enough place to make the conscious effort to lose weight this year.

So here's my plan:
January: Focus on eating healthier by packing lunches for work and cooking at home meals at least 4 days a week.  Not only will this help with both of our weight, it will also save us some money.

February: Start incorporating exercise 1-2 times a week.  I am planning to do Zumba and Cycle to start since they both are great exercise classes and will not be too intense.

After February, I do not have a plan.  But I know in years past, trying to do both diet and exercise at the same time caused me to get too overwhelmed, so this year I am going to just tackle one at a time.

3. Read 2 books a month
So last year I set up my goal to read 12 books and met it at exactly 12.  This year I want to kick it up a bit and try to read two books a month.  My goal is to read my Owlcrate Book as well as a book off of my to be read book list.  If you have a book you think would be a good addition to my list, please let me know! I am always looking for good book recommendations.

4. Share Thirty-One
So last year I started selling Thirty-One and I am so glad I started selling it.  I have found such an amazing community in through Thirty-One that I want to continue sharing it with anyone and everyone.  Not only are their products so cute, they are so functional! Check out a little more about one of our products and how many uses it has! If you want to learn more about Thirty-One, go here.

  *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

So those are my goals for 2017! I know it seems like a lot, but I am confident I can be successful this year and would love to hear more about your goals and how you plan to achieve them!

Want to see what other people are planning for 2017? Check out the link up on Mix and Match Mama's blog today!

Up Next on Workin' It Wednesday....

Keeping Your Marriage Strong

Question of the Day: What are your resolutions for 2017?

I'd love to hear from you!

Weekend Highs & Lows #49

Hello everyone!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend filled with fun and exciting adventures

Happy Monday friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! We had a rather low-key weekend which was a great way to start the first week of the year!

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Highs:

On Saturday, Justin and I slept in and enjoyed a relaxing morning with breakfast in bed.  The morning was spent doing laundry and cleaning the house.  In the afternoon, my mom and I went to a local Vintage Market to check out what fun things they have on sale.  While I was there, I got a few good ideas for things I could use around my house.  I love going to vintage markets or other types of places that have some creative ideas for decorating our house.  Aren't these so cute?

Sunday Justin woke up with a massive migraine, so we spend the morning relaxing in bed.  For the afternoon, we started taking down our Christmas decorations.  Of course, it is taking a little longer than normal since I've been going through all of our stuff and getting rid of things we no longer need.  One of my biggest goals this year is to purge anything and everything we no longer need and what better place to start than our Christmas decorations? So we gathered all of them together and started going through them.  The plan is to get the rest finished by the end of the week.

Sunday evening we spent time playing Mario Party 10 on the WiiU with Nick and Kevin and I ended the weekend watching the Golden Globes.  Did you watch?

Lows:
Honestly, I was sad to take the tree down this weekend.  I love having a tree and all of the Christmas decorations around.  But alas, it is January 9th and we really needed to take our tree down.
